Terms of use

Last updated October 10, 2026

The Spokane Community Assistant is free for anyone looking for help in Spokane County. These terms say what you may do with the service and what we ask you not to do. By using the service, you agree to them.

This is not an emergency service

In an emergency call 911. For crisis support, call or text 988. The assistant is an AI tool and it can make mistakes. It does not give medical, legal, or financial advice.

Call before you go

We check the listings every month. Hours, addresses, and the rules for who qualifies can change sooner than that, so please call an organization before you travel there. A listing is not an endorsement, and we do not run any of the listed services.

What you are welcome to do

What we ask you not to do

Search engines may index the public pages. If you need the data in bulk for a public purpose, write to us. We are glad to talk about a data-sharing agreement.

Who owns what

The names, addresses, and phone numbers of organizations are public facts, and we do not claim to own them. Plain Words LLC owns the work that makes the directory useful. That work includes the choice of listings, the categories and labels, the checks that keep listings current, the text we wrote, the software, and the name. How listings are chosen is explained in what gets listed.

The community needs report

The summary at What Spokane is asking for and the same numbers at /api/needs are shared under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 license. You may copy and share them for non-commercial purposes if you credit “Ask Spokane, Plain Words LLC” and link to askspokane.org. For commercial use, or for a report built for your agency or area, write to us.

No guarantee

The service is provided as it is. We work to keep it correct, but we cannot promise that every listing is right or that the service will always be available. To the extent the law allows, Plain Words LLC is not liable for losses that come from using the service or from relying on a listing.

Your privacy

There are no accounts, and the words you type or say are not saved. The privacy notice has the full rule.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms, and the date at the top will show when. The laws of the State of Washington govern them.
